(MLA) Mandated Lead Arranger definition
Mandated Lead Arranger (MLA) is a bank responsiple for structuring, organization and execution of a syndicated loan. In case of underwritten syndication, the MLA faces underwriting risk as it guarantees the entire commitment to the borrower irrespectively of his ability to assign parts of the issued loans to other lenders. The MLA, or at least one MLA in transactions that have more than one arrager, will typically act as the bookrunner.
